This SIG is championed by Eric Schorn of
ARM, Peter Claydon of
picoChip and Carson Bradbury of
Cre8Ventures. We are also very grateful to
ARM for hosting this event at their Cambridge offices.
The event will be chaired by Glenn Collinson, co-founder and former director of CSR Plc, currently consultant and non-executive director to several European fabless semiconductor companies.
.
The increasing amount of risk, time, and resources required to take an early stage semiconductor company to a successful exit has resulted in early stage venture capitalists going downstream into later stage and lower-risk opportunities. At the same time the European semiconductor industry has underperformed relative to other regions – why are there no companies the size of Qualcomm in Europe? How can early stage European semiconductor innovation be stimulated and resourced?
Now is the time to develop early stage investment approaches that can include other value-added stakeholders whose strategic agenda is centred upon maximizing shareholder value rather than only those focusing on strict return to an investment fund. Investment approaches leveraging established and experienced stakeholders are able to capture first mover advantages to remain in front of technology industry trends.
This forum will discuss and explore the challenges faced by early stage innovators, share experiences and success stories from industry leaders, and deliver valuable insights from potential funding sources. The format consists of brief panellist introductions with opening comments, followed by an interactive panel discussion with audience participation. Panellists confirmed are:
- Tudor Brown, President of ARM
- Chris Smart of Acacia Capital
- Ivor Evans, VP of Operations at CSR
- Barry Dennington, SVP and Managing Director at NXP UK
- Simon Knowles of Icera
- Bruno Johnson, CEO at Cascoda
This event is an opportunity for those seeking to initiate or resource early stage semiconductor innovation, as well as established companies wishing to participate in mapping out a new way forward, to capture the benefits of European semiconductor innovation.
Events are FREE to Cambridge Wireless Members. Tickets for non-members are £150.00 plus VAT.
