Big Data SIG event - 'Information Rock & Roll: How Big Data has made analytics sexy!'

Brought to you by Cambridge Wireless

Meet the new rock-stars of the corporate world – the people who can make sense of the Terrabytes of structured and unstructured data your organisation collects.

Registration for this event is now closed.

About the event

At this second Big Data event, hosted and sponsored by Eversheds LLP in London, we will be examining two areas:

  • the proliferation of new internal and external data sources which are now available for analysis
  • and some of the visualisation tools and methodologies which can be used to present analytics in exciting new ways

This explosion in the availability of data from new and sometimes unexpected sources has the potential to unveil patterns, create understanding and form the basis for predictive and proactive behaviours. However, the data itself is just the beginning as the power actually lies in the information that can be derived from it and also on how such information is conveyed to various audiences in order to create understanding.

In this second event of the CW Big Data SIG we will be addressing aspects of using and merging multiple and varied types of input data in order to create complex information as well as means of conveying such information through visualisation. Delegates will be given liberal time to network and mingle with their peers and colleagues alike to deliberate the day’s topics and discuss potential business opportunities.

Confirmed Speakers:

Additional Panellist:

  • Claus Bendtsen, Head of Computational Biology, AstraZeneca

15:50

Using Visualization to tell Stories with Data; Mrunal Shridhar, Customer Solutions, EMEA, Tableau

While we have a vast array of tools for analyzing data, the presentation of issues and support for decisions based on that data is still in its infancy. Recently, there has been a lot of interest in storytelling about data, in particular because of the successful use of data in news media. Mrunal Shridhar at Tableau, will discuss what makes these work so well, and then look at how we can go from analysis to presentation, and on to building exploratory tools for the audience once they have seen the story.
