Breakfast Networking: GDPR - How should HR prepare?

Brought to you by Cambridge Network

An interactive workshop focusing on the steps Human Resources teams should take to ensure both their teams and their organisations are prepared for the GDPR.

Registration for this event is now closed.

About the event

Due to the popularity of our first GDPR based Breakfast Networking event in July we thought it necessary to hold another workshop, this time focussing on HR. An employment-based case study will provide a hands-on view at how to successfully prepare for the GDPR. Katie Harris-Wright from Birketts will be leading this seminar.

In May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will come into force replacing the UK’s existing data protection laws. It may seem some way off but complying with the new law will require a full review of existing data protection policies and procedures and is likely to require the introduction of new measures across your organisation. A failure to properly comply with the new law could result in a fine of up to €20 million, so the stakes are high and this part of European legislation will be implemented in the UK, despite Brexit.

This workshop will focus on the changes that will be introduced by the GDPR, how they will affect employment data and practices and the steps Human Resources teams should take to ensure both their teams and their organisations are prepared for the GDPR. Using an employment-based case study, Katie will examine the key differences between the current and future data protection regimes and explain why it is important to take steps now to ensure you are GDPR ready.
