Established as a workstream by the Greater Cambridge Partnership Greater Cambridge Partnership in August 2015, this rapidly evolving programme is working on harnessing emerging technologies such as autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things and big data to improve the economic strength and sustainability of the area.
The programme aspires to make Cambridge a leading Smart City and we work with cities from across the UK as well as engaging with cities from Europe and across the world. T
he role requires extensive experience of project management, procurement and commissioning of projects. The ability to adapt to this fast paced, rapidly evolving programme involving innovation and emerging technology, is also essential.
The ideal candidate must be confident in managing a broad portfolio of projects and working with a wide range of stakeholders including business, the academic sector, other public sector bodies and communities.
The Smart Cambridge programme is a small team that sits within the wider Connecting Cambridgeshire team, based at Cambridgeshire County Council, where we promote a culture of team working, trust, respect and excellence.
Prior knowledge of ‘Smart Cities’ theory and application is desirable but not essential. However the ideal candidate must be willing to learn fast - developing a working knowledge of the concepts that underpin smart cities, including digital connectivity and the wider Greater Cambridge Partnership Programme.
They will be a self-starter who can drive forward complex, multi-faceted projects to ensure their successful delivery.
