Join the Wireless Heritage SIG for a tour of Military Intelligence Museum inside the Chicksands military base on the 15th November. This tour is free to all, and is an opportunity to visit a museum that is not normally accessible to the general public.

The museum shows how military intelligence is collected and used, and covers a wide range of topics including the history of military intelligence, the Y-Service (Bletchley Park listening post) activities at Chicksands during the Second World War, SOE operations, plus Cold War intelligence gathering in East Germany (BRIXMIS) and at Chicksands itself (USAF 'Elephant Cage' listening post). In addition there is the Medmenham Collection covering the collection and analysis of aerial imagery from the First World War through to the end of the Cold War.  There may also be an opportunity to explore the East German radio-monitoring truck which forms part of the museum’s collection of interesting artifacts.

The tour will start at 10.30 but attendees should aim to be at the entrance to the site no later than 10.15 to allow time for the issuing of passes by the Guardroom. The tour will take about 75-90 minutes after which you can revisit sections of the museum at your own pace.  For further details of the museum please follow https://www.militaryintelligencemuseum.org/.

Please note the tour is being organised and delivered by the Cambridge Branch of Royal Aeronautical Society, and supported by The Cambridge Wireless Heritage SIG.
