Cambridge is changing and we need your help in shaping the role technology will play in the city’s future.
Plans for over 33,000 houses to be built over the next 15 years will see an additional 50,000 people move into Cambridge and the surrounding area. This growth presents an unprecedented challenge for the city. There is a need to address the pressures this will put on mobility, the environment, health and social care and to think about how we can improve the quality of life for residents.
#hackCambridge is a day of talks, workshops, and a 24hr hackathon being held at The Junction, Cambridge from 12 noon on 31 October to explore the role technology and creativity can play in tackling the city’s challenges.
The challenges that Cambridge faces, its ‘Smart City’ ambitions, citizen empowerment and the role of data will be explored in talks by Councillor Lewis Herbert, Leader of Cambridge City Council, Usman Haque, founding partner of Umbrellium and Thingful, and multimedia artist Mark Farid, creator of Data Shadow.
Participants can also drop-in to meet their online Data Shadow developed by multimedia artist Mark Farid, see Cambridge built in Minecraft and short films featuring Cambridge inventors.
#hackCambridge events are all free, but you need to book tickets for the 24hr City Challenge Hackathon, Cambridge and ‘Towards a Smart City?’ talks. Find out more and book now at www.junction.co.uk/hackcambridge or call 01223 511511.
