The fusion of physics and practical real-world engineering has been the driving force behind BT’s innovation since its foundation over 170 years ago. This fusion is powering the many globally leading innovations emerging from BT Labs today. In his address, Dr Whitley will focus on a few contemporary examples and in particular will describe the imminent exploitation of quantum technologies that have been years, and even decades in the making, embracing the wide variety of innovation from sensors and imaging to secure communications and quantum computers. Tim will also examine the potential for the world’s first high speed, quantum secured link currently being constructed between Cambridge University and Adastral Park.
