Vision into Action: Bailey Fisher sponsors The Perse School Conference
How do you get to share the secrets of world-leading experts on entrepreneurship, without paying a penny? It’s easy, you just have to be 16 years old.
Tuesday 10 June marks the 4th annual Perse School Conference, at which inspirational keynote speakers Doug Richard, of BBC2’s Dragons’ Den fame, and Julie Meyer, named a “Global Leader of Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum, will share their business insights from idea to reality with sixth-form students from across the region. Hosted at Cambridge’s Moller Centre the event will be attended by 80 students drawn from over 50 local schools.
The Perse School Conference was set up 4 years ago by Perse old-boy Paul Bailey (co-founder and Managing Director of Bailey Fisher ~ Executive Search), John Southworth (Director of Co-Curriculum at The Perse School) and Cambridge entrepreneur Alan Barrell. The idea behind the event is to create opportunities for students to hear first-hand accounts of entrepreneurship taking place in and around Cambridge, to gain insights from inspirational business leaders, and to have the chance to participate in real-life business scenarios, including break-out sessions and networking. This year, Doug Richard will host My Dragon’s Den, in which five successful business plans, presented by students from schools attending on the day, will be pitched to a panel of judges including Doug Richard, Robert Sansom, Mike Fell and Chris Harris. The winning idea will receive a prize of book tokens, as well as the opportunity to have business mentoring to explore turning their idea into reality.
Over the past four years, Paul Bailey and the committee have been overwhelmed by the level of interest and support from high-calibre speakers, supporters and sponsors wishing to be involved in the event. William Reeve, former Perse student and co-founder of LoveFilm, Europe’s largest online DVD rental company, is amongst the speakers who have given their time and experience in previous years, along with other local entrepreneurs Herman Hauser, Shai Vyakarnam and Phil O’Donovan.
This year Doug Richard and Julie Meyer will be joined by Cambridge entrepreneurs Robert Sansom and Chris Harris, Andrea Blakesley of Mudhut Communications and Claire Lander of MyJuice. Bailey Fisher ~ Executive Search is proud to be sponsoring the event again this year.
