DigiBC announces launch of VX 2010 Showcase Website and VX Directory
In preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, DigiBC has launched its VX Showcase website and B2B digital directory. The website address is www.vxperience.com.

VX Showcase (V: for Convergence and X: for Intersection), is a digital showcase of Vancouver's world-class wireless and digital media industry. It is available on the VX website and, during the games, as a special presentation at Robson Square.

VX is a non-profit, industry-led, government supported initiative giving BC wireless and digital media companies opportunities to show off to the world, to make connections, and to show business leaders that Vancouver is a creative, innovative, and business-driven destination to work, play and profit. By providing unique, Olympics-related wireless services to locals, visitors and non-accredited media, VX Showcase leverages the games to present the world with wireless and digital media technologies created here in BC.

A special VX committee reviewed over 125 applicants to select the top 70 companies for the showcase. Of the 70, the industry advisory board also selected the top 20 companies which will be released before the games begin under the VX Top 20.

The VX Directory and B2B matchmaking service is an important part of VX. It is available both on the web (www.vxperience.com/b2b) as well as on iPhones and Blackberries, through XOMO Digital’s VX Connect Mobile app. This app is a free download that can be found at: www.vxperience.com/b2b/p/connect.

The directory currently lists 70+ VX selected companies and will now be open for delegates, as well as other local and international companies to create free profiles.

DigiBC president Michael Bidu says the purpose of the VX Directory is "to enable BC's top wireless and digital companies to connect with businesses and delegates from around the world. The directory's matchmaking functions create a point of contact where world business delegates can discover our industry. In particular, it enables immediate, simple lead generation between visitors and BC wireless and digital companies. Think of it as an innovative combination between Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter."

Besides VX Showcase and VX Directory, the newly launched vxperience.com website also includes:
VX Connect: a web-and-mobile-based matchmaking service that gives local and international businesses a place to store and share information about business development, investment and media needs, and global and regional trade interests - on iPhone™, BlackBerry™, and other smart phones.
VX Conversations: a compelling series of video conversations between various leaders of our digital community.
VX Services: a selection of made-in-BC, online and mobile services to help local and international guests to enjoy an enhanced experience in Vancouver.

From January 20, 2010 until March 31, 2010, a special Winter Olympics and Paralympics edition of VX Showcase will be available at the BC Showcase Centre at Robson Square. There, business visitors and non-accredited media from international news agencies will be invited on hosted video tours of the best that BC's digital media and wireless companies have to offer. Most of the tours will end with interesting conversations, match-making and networking opportunities for VX companies.

VX Showcase is supported by the 2010 Commerce Centre, Telus, BC Innovation Council, Vancouver Economic Development Commission, BC universities, NRC-IRAP and Western Economic Diversification, plus more than seventy BC-based digital media and wireless companies, including world-class companies like: EA, Disney Interactive, Rainmaker Entertainment, Sierra Wireless, Nokia Vancouver and Canpages, and SMEs like: Work at Play, Switch Interactive, Tangible Interaction, Absolute Software, EcoBuddies and others.
