Deloitte calls on entrepreneurs to share their views
Now in its fifth year, Entrepreneurship UK is an authoritative report on the sector, reflecting the current attitudes, performance and objectives of entrepreneurs and their businesses.
Last year entrepreneurs told us that:
- The government is relying on private business growth to take us out of recession; however as a commercial culture the UK as a whole is failing to back entrepreneurial business.
- Business growth is held back by cautious banks restricting lending to low risk enterprises.
- Government appears to be supporting start ups, but growth oriented medium sized businesses still have the greatest tax and regulatory burden of any businesses.
Adam Norman, Senior Manager in the entrepreneurial business team at Deloitte in Cambridge, says: “When we conducted our survey in 2011, over 90% of our respondents anticipated revenue growth in 2012. The results of our 2012 survey will show whether entrepreneurs have been able to buck the gloomy trend of the UK economy and spearhead positive growth in these uncertain times.”
Keith Willey, entrepreneurship expert and associate professor at London Business School, comments: “Every business owner’s mind is focussed on the economy, more so than ever with economic headwinds blowing in from Europe. We will be looking closely at the sentiment of business owners from across the UK, and are expecting to hear some good news despite tough market conditions.”
Analysed by Deloitte and the London Business School, the results will be published in early October. This year two entrepreneurs, James Sommerville (Attik) and Paul Lindsey (Ella’s Kitchen), will be providing their respective views on the results and will also form part of the panel at the launch event in October - joined by Keith Willey (London Business School) and Deloitte’s chief economist Ian Stewart.
The survey is open until the end of July and takes just 10 minutes to complete; simply visit: www.entrepreneurshipuk.com.
