Chronos brings timing expertise to the Smart Grid
Chronos is delighted to become a member to help support DIEA’s key aim which is to convert Denmark’s power system to Smart Grid, meaning a huge transformation in its energy system.Business Development Manager with Chronos, Chris Roberts said ““Fast and trusted communication between power plants and sub-stations is a key requirement for Smart Grids. The ability to deliver and measure time in increments as small as a nanosecond is vital for efficient monitoring and control of power plants and sub-stations, maintaining safety and ensuring both flexibility and reliability.” He continued “As an established provider of GPS timing systems to many industries including the power industry, Chronos delivers the services, systems and components that play a major part in keeping the power flowing. Our significant experience ensures we bring up-to-date design, deployment and support experience, alongside selection of class-leading hardware to our customers.”
“It will be a major task to fuse energy with advancing technologies in order to ensure the effective conversion into Smart Grid” said Morten Trolle, Managing Director of DIEA. He added ”Our mission is to bring all key stakeholders together from across the value chain into a future Smart Grid in order to jointly identify solutions to the many challenges we are facing. With Chronos’ participation we have come another step closer to fulfilling our mission.”
Founded in March 2012 by the Danish Energy Association, DIEA aims to make Denmark one of the first countries to convert its power system to Smart Grid. Denmark has a goal of becoming independent of fossil fuels by 2050 which means a huge transformation in its energy system. Membership comprises a larger number of companies and institutions in the energy industry.
