Cambridge Business Week honours local entrepreneurship and business

Monday 18 March is a major date for the diary. It sees the launch of Cambridge Business Week 2013 – a fantastic opportunity for Cambridge based businesses to come together to showcase the excellence of the cluster.

The week builds on the success of the inaugural initiative in 2012 which saw many people taking part in events, networking and sharing of ideas in support of two major local business awards ceremonies. It is a major initiative to raise the profile of Cambridgeshire businesses and promote the area as a great place to work and do business.

Forming a key part of Cambridge Awards Week are the Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards and Business Weekly Business Awards. Local companies and organisations also create their own events and initiatives for Cambridge Business Week, all with the aim of raising awareness of the dynamic Cambridgeshire business community.

Key Cambridge based companies are pivotally involved in the week including Real VNC, One Nucleus, Cambridge Wireless and Cambridge Network – all working together to make the week one to remember.

This is a huge opportunity to recognise the excellence of entrepreneurship and business in the Cambridge area. The event will bring speakers and delegates from across the UK to various events to discuss expectations and opportunities in all of the major sectors of the Cambridge economy.

“I am delighted Vince is coming to Cambridge to launch this hugely important event,” said Cambridge MP Julian Huppert. “We have a dynamic business community in Cambridge carrying out some ground-breaking work; Cambridge Business Week is an opportunity to showcase that work and recognise the excellent achievements that are taking place there.”

It will be incredibly refreshing to see brilliant minds from all over the UK gather in Cambridge to shape the industries of the present and future. It will also be a celebration of a large number of companies who spend the year working hard, creating and selling valuable products and creating employment through their success.

Last year there was an incredible atmosphere all week from the launch breakfast at Granta Park onwards. The week not only provided the business community with the opportunity to celebrate successes at the two awards ceremonies but also to network and make new contacts through ’engineered serendipity’ - initial chance encounters that over time become new partnerships, new developments, new sectors of R&D and new opportunities for commercialisation that could very well lead to future successes to celebrate. We expect the same for 2013.
