Ethernet is 40!
Clearly a technology such as Ethernet isn’t invented in a single day however the first mention of the word “Ethernet” was in a memo, written by Bob Metcalfe on 22nd May 1973.
Ethernet started life as a shared media LAN technology however over the last 10 years it’s evolved from LAN to WAN and nowadays it’s a Global Area Networking technology enabled by Carrier Ethernet as championed by the MEF: http://metroethernetforum.org.
