Is Millimetre Wave Radio the answer to bandwidth shortage?

With an increasing shortage of cellular spectrum, Cambridge Wireless (CW) and ICT KTN are collaborating in an effort to explore the opportunities presented by -Millimetre-Wave (mm-Wave) radio. The conference “Millimetre-wave radios: The Challenges and Opportunities”, on 30th January 2014 at PA Consulting Group, Melbourne Science Park near Cambridge, brings together leading industry experts and provides a platform for delegates to debate the potential benefits of millimetre-wave radio.

With the growth in bandwidth hungry multimedia applications, millimetre-wave technology may provide the answer, with a combination of novel sensing and lightly regulated or unregulated spectrum. This free event will explore the potential of millimetre-wave radio technology and signal processing and focus on innovations in communications and sensing that are driving renewed interest in mm-Wave enabling technology and multi-antennae research. The agenda will address the opportunities and challenges and culminate in a panel session to include delegate opinion.

Diego Giancola of PA Consulting Group and CW Radio Technology SIG Champion commented, “mm-Wave could be the solution to the shortage of spectrum, but it does not come without complications. The event will put the spotlight on the potential as well as the problems, drawing on the knowledge and expertise of our speakers and creating an open forum for dialogue.”

The CW Radio Technology SIG and ICT KTN are actively involved in the development of wireless technologies and more importantly, in bringing the wireless community together to drive development.

Soraya Jones, CEO of CW said: “CW encourages industry forums that discuss hot topics like this , and we are delighted to be working with our partner, ICTKTN to deliver this very important and timely event on mm-Wave Radio. We also thank PA Consulting for hosting this event at their offices.”

To attend the event, please visit www.cambridgewireless.co.uk. The event is free to attend and all delegates registering will automatically be registered as an ICT KTN member, which is also free of charge. All CW events provide plentiful networking opportunities, to ensure maximum gain for delegates.
