Largest Concierge System in Europe

Your Homes Newcastle call for centralised concierge system to help deliver a better service to their residents and reduce maintenance cost

Your Homes Newcastle’s Community Care Alarm Service (CCAS) has worked in partnership with IT specialist Green Access, installation partner Openview, assisted living centre provider Jontek and the Telecare Services Association to develop a sustainable, digital platform that will future-proof the housing provider’s care and support offer. The digital platform will be used to monitor a new Green Access customer portal product that is designed to reduce stigma around telecare equipment. The tablet style device is provided through an Internet Protocol network and is capable of delivering voice communications and multimedia sessions. It has recently replaced an analogue door entry intercom in multi-storey blocks in Newcastle upon Tyne and can be programmed with Tynetec telecare sensors that remove the need for a separate dispersed alarm unit which is often unpopular because of its institutional appearance and association with vulnerability.

The new device is designed to be integrated into everyday life due to its sleek and simple appearance and intuitive user interface that accommodates CCAS’s current telecare offer while at the same time provides a platform on which to develop future telecare and telehealth services.

The use of IP infrastructure to deliver the service offers many long-term benefits for the provider, including reduced costs, sustainability of the technology and a viable infrastructure on which housing related support and care technology can evolve into the future. The new solution will be incorporated into future Your Homes Newcastle schemes, including Housing with Care schemes currently being developed. Neil Scott, Senior Director of Your Homes Newcastle, said: “Working with others, we have been able to invest in a digital platform that will facilitate the development of technology enabled care services that will prevent, reduce and delay the escalation of care needs. This is an area of work with huge potential to enrich everyday life and we’re now working with our local authority and our customers to identify how we can use our digital infrastructure to meet our customers’ needs and make a real difference to people’s lives.”
