CWTEC 2024 highlighted the growing importance of AI within critical systems
The Cambridge Wireless Technical Engineering Conference (CWTEC) 2024, held on 27 June at Cambridge Computer Labs, brought together more than 160 engineers, academics, researchers, and tech businesses. The popularity of the conference reflects the growing importance of harnessing AI within critical systems such as telecommunications, cybersecurity, healthcare, and banking.
Among the special guest speakers was Professor Amanda Prorok from the University of Cambridge, who talked about their pioneering work in the deployment of AI within multi-robot systems. Other guest speakers delved into how AI can enhance diagnostics, resilience, security, and efficiency across critical industries. We also explored upcoming technologies and trends shaping the future of AI, fostering discussions on new models, hybrid systems, and the importance of explainable AI.
Michaela Eschbach, CEO of Cambridge Wireless, said: "We were delighted to welcome record levels of attendees for this year’s CWTEC. The popularity of the conference reflects the growing interest in how we deploy AI for the greater good. We learnt how AI is revolutionising everything from robotics to wind turbines to telecommunications and banking. We delved into advanced real-time generative AI techniques and explored the future of AI, focusing on personalization, sustainability, and interpretability.”
Among the special guest speakers at CWTEC was Cheryl Allebrand, Senior Consultant, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation, at CGI. Cheryl said: “CWTEC event was truly inspiring. It is rare to see such a high level of engagement and sharing by both presenters and attendees. The discussions I had during breaks and lunch were thought-provoking and enlightening. It’s so important that we continue to meet in person like this and share our ideas and perspectives.”
Huge thanks to our sponsors and exhibitors for CWTEC 2024: CGI, Viavi, Ranplan Wireless, IOTAS, AWTG, EnSilica and UKTIN for helping to make this event possible. Many thanks also to Cambridge Computer Labs at the University of Cambridge who kindly hosted the event.
