Future Devices & Technology SIG at Homerton College
We welcomed almost 60 attendees for the CW Future Devices & Technologies SIG on 12th September 2023 in the North Wing Auditorium at Homerton College.
The well-attended event focused on rapid prototyping and its impact on sustainability. The talks and discussions focused on a wide range of topics including the creation of sustainable products, reducing electrical waste, improvements in plastic recycling, ingredients of prototyping toolbox and much more.
Zahid Ghadialy, Future Devices & Technologies SIG Champion, said: "The talks were insightfully presented by expert speakers with a great deal of real-world experience. The attendees participated enthusiastically by asking lots of questions, providing ideas and suggestions, and bolstering the confidence of not just the speakers, but everyone else looking to go down the sustainability route."
The event was sponsored by Beko, one of the leading appliance companies in the UK. Graham Andersen from Beko said: "Rapid prototyping gives us the chance of early validation with our consumers. We use it to make our concepts tangible and test them with our consumers. It makes it possible for us to decide which concept to champion, so we will not invest into the wrong ideas. By using rapid and digital prototyping as an everyday tool we are able to execute entrepreneurship and Innovation programmes, such as hackathons, with concrete outputs including venture projects and investment."
