The aim of the Enhanced Mobile Broadband SIG was to bring together industry players and other interested parties to understand how to optimise the future of Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) based on both 5G and LTE Advanced technologies.

This SIG covered topics such as coverage, download capabilities and speeds, latency, data offload, backhaul, mobility, charging models and applications. Other topics that emerge as new wireless technologies and solutions evolve and grow, as well as updates on existing network technologies and applications were also be covered.

5G Enhanced Mobile Broadband is one of the hottest wireless topics right now and will undoubtedly continue to generate massive interest with new spectrum and capabilities. The first 3GPP 5G NR based systems are expected to be launched globally during the second half of 2018 with devices available from many sources in 2019.

This SIG provided a great opportunity to bring together CW members and other parties from across the globe who have an interest in Enhanced Mobile Broadband.

The eMBB SIG is now part of the Mobile Networks SIG.
