VR, AI,  IoT, industrial innovation, just some of the topics we covered in one day –  what a productive visit for these Chinese consumer tech companies in Cambridge!

Last Friday Crayfish hosted a delegation of Chinese tech companies visiting from Shenzhen, Shanghai and Chengdu to Cambridge, as part of a Consumer Tech Supply Chain Mission to the UK organised by the UK government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

Most of these companies are new to the UK market and their main purpose was to find local partners, while one robotics company is more established in selling into the UK and  now reviewing the feasibility to set up here in the near future.

Farbod Shakouri, Co-Founder & CEO of Phantom Technology based in St Johns Innovation Centre, gave a systematic introduction to intent computing showing the evolution of tech leading to the creation of the latest AI powered VR glasses.

We heard from James Green, Director of Green Custard,  another SJIC tenant, how the Internet of Things can transform business across traditional as well as tech industries through his sharing of some real user cases from their 300+ projects delivered globally.

After a refreshing quick walk in the Cambridge Science Park we took the group to visit the west site of the University of Cambridge, where the delegates had witnessed some of the exciting innovations happening at the institute for Manufacturing.

Everyone, from the Chinese group delegates to DBT officers and the speakers, seem to have all enjoyed the interaction with each other during our lunch networking and afternoon coffee discussions.

All in all, a productive day of actively facilitating two-way business and investments between the UK and China.  Something we are very proud of doing at Crayfish.
