Designing for compliance - Isn't it time we thought about the user first?

Patient compliance with self-medication systems often has a sharp drop off after only a few months of use. For Asthma inhalers the level of long term compliance is lamentable, but even for many high criticality therapies it can be surprisingly poor. Why are patients so bad at taking their medication and how can we as designers help them? Andy explores ways in which innovative design can help patients use their medication to achieve better outcomes.
